The Tenth Amendment

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

The tenth amendment was added to the Constitution to make sure the federal government did not become too powerful and restrict the liberty of Americans. Congress, the President and the Courts have ignored the Tenth Amendment.  The federal government has assumed powers never established in the Constitution and specifically limited by the Tenth Amendment.
